The Katsina State Government in collaboration with the Federal Government, has commenced the construction of 10 primary schools for herdsmen and other residents living in Rugu forest, following the return of peace in the area.
Governor Aminu Bello Masari, disclosed this at the opening ceremony of the Federal and State Security Administrators’ Meeting (FSSAM), held yesterday, at the Conference Hall of the state secretariat.
The governor said aside the 10 primary schools undergoing construction in the forest, his government in collaboration with federal government would also construct roads and earth dams in the forest to ameliorate the plights bedevilling residents of the area.
“The state government in collaboration with federal government has fashioned out plans to revive the Rugu Forest through the provision of social amenities which includes roads, schools, veterinary clinics, earth dams.
“We have commence the construction of 10 primary schools in the forest, while numerous veterinary clinics have already been completed awaiting the supply of equipment and furniture”, Governor Masari said.
Governor Masari, however, said state government under his watch was spending N60 million monthly in supporting the security agencies in the state.
His words, “It is against this backdrop and our present financial position that I would like to solicit the federal government to come in and look into the issue of funding of security agencies operating in the state”.
