FG reappoints Odumodu as SON DG

son-logoThe Federal Government has announced the re-appointment of Dr. Joseph Odumodu as the Director-General of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria.

Odumodu’s reappointment would take effect from February 1, 2015, the date for the expiration of his current tenure, in line with the provisions of the SON Act, CAP S9 LFN, 2004.

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Olusegun Aganga, at the weekend said that the re-appointment followed records of excellence set by Odumodu during his four-year tenure as chief executive of the organisation.

Aganga said President Goodluck Jonathan approved the renewal of Odumodu’s appointment for another term as part of efforts to sustain initiatives that would further address standardisation issues in the country.

Aganga, in a letter to Odumodu, said: “Your reappointment is in recognition of the numerous initiatives you have put in place to support the competitiveness of Nigerian products and services in the global market.

“It is also due to the reforms you have commenced with the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment to develop national standards and quality infrastructure that will support the Nigerian Industrial Revolution Plan of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
