The Federal Government has revived its National Talent Export Programme (NATEP) to create over one million direct jobs and attract $1 billion in foreign investment, positioning Nigeria as a global hub for skilled talent.

The initiative, led by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, targets the $1 trillion global outsourcing market by creating structured, ethical pathways for Nigerian professionals in sectors such as tech, BPO, healthcare, remote work, and creative services.

Unveiling the revamped programme at Itana Digital Special Economic Zone in Lagos, Jumoke Oduwole said NATEP aims to boost non-oil exports, increase foreign exchange earnings, and place Nigeria at the heart of global services.

“We’re not just opening our doors — we’re raising our standards,” Oduwole declared.

The programme will train 10 million Nigerians in globally relevant certifications and incentivize service firms to expand operations. A key feature of the relaunch was a strategic agreement with private sector partners to deliver an initial 100,000 jobs.

Teju Abisoye, a development finance expert with two decades of experience, has been appointed National Coordinator to drive implementation and partnerships.

The initiative also includes a national talent database, policy reforms to support remote services, and partnerships with global outsourcing platforms to match Nigerian workers with international demand.

Officials say NATEP aligns with President Tinubu’s economic agenda, particularly goals under AfCFTA and efforts to diversify exports beyond oil.

With its youthful, English-speaking population and improving digital infrastructure, Nigeria is primed to tap into global outsourcing trends.

“This programme is about you, for you, and with you,” Oduwole told young Nigerians. “The future of work isn’t somewhere else—it’s being built here.”
