FG unveils 10,000 houses for workers at Apo tomorrow

Plans have been concluded for the flagging off of about 10,000 Units of various types of houses under the Nationwide Workers’ Housing Scheme at Apo Tafyi District, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), by President Goodluck Jonathan tomorrow.

According to the FCT Minister, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, who dropped this hint, it is a Federal Government Scheme in collaboration with the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and to be developed by Good Homes Development Company Limited.

He explained that the project is part of the Federal Government’s commitment to providing affordable housing to Nigerian workers under the Transformation Agenda of the present Administration.

A statement signed by Chief Press Secretary to the FCT minister, Muhammad Hazat Sule said the minister, made this disclosure on Monday together with his colleagues, the supervising Minister of Labour & Productivity, Alhaji Kabiru Tanimu Turaki and the Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mrs. Akon Etim Eyakenyi.

It added that the ministers reiterated that the FCT Administration, Federal Ministry of Labour & Productivity, and Federal Ministry of Lands, Housing & Urban Development have been mandated to fashion out how the flagging-off would be successfully organized.

“According to the three Ministers the scheme is designed for all the 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory to reduce the housing deficit in the country and most importantly provide affordable homes to Nigerian workers.

 “Senator Mohammed revealed that the FCT Administration had provided land for the Scheme and that the developer would build various types of h ouses including 5 Bedroom Duplex; 4 Bedroom Duplex; 3 Bedroom Terrace Duplex; 3 Bedroom Block of flats and 2 Bedroom Block of flats,” the statement said.
