The overall chairman of All okada  Union Forum in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mallam Kabir Dahiru, has appealed to the Federal Government not to ban okada riders in the country, saying that most okada operators are graduates.

Dahiru made the appeal in an interview with newsmen during the general meeting of the union in Gwagwalada.

He charged the government at all levels to carry okada riders along  in the scheme of things.

He said the purpose of the meeting was to enlighten the okada riders to be security conscious during their operations.

He then advised the okada riders to shun any act capable of tarnishing their image in the society and tasked them to be vigilante always.

He pointed out that his leadership would continue to sensitise the okada riders in the Area, while thanking the administration of Gwagwalada Area Council for supporting Okada riders.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Area Council, Hon. Abubakar Jibrin Giri who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Kasim Sani Mohammed said the management of council would provide an enabling environment for the okada riders to operate.

On their responses, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Gwagwalada Division, CSP S.A Hamza who represented at the occasion pleaded with okada riders not to carry more than two passengers on their motorcycles.

Not less out, the representative of NSCDC also urged okada riders to be conscious their passengers.
