Aliyu Urges Sokoto Residents to Protect Public Projects

The Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, has appealed to residents of the state to safeguard various developmental projects executed by the government across the state.
The governor made the call on Friday at the commissioning the Kirare Izala Jumu’at Mosque in Goronyo Local Government Area.

Media and Publicity, Government House, Sokoto.
The governor reminded the people that improper handling of public projects could lead to waste of vital resources.
“We need to guard all the projects executed by the state government jealously so they can last longer,” he said.
Aliyu further urged every community in the state to establish a committee responsible for the regular monitoring and protection of government projects within their areas.
Speaking on the newly constructed Jumu’at Mosque, the governor called on worshippers to ensure its proper maintenance and utilise it fully by observing their five daily prayers and other religious obligations.
He assured that within the current fiscal year, the administration would place greater emphasis on the construction and renovation of Islamiyya schools and cemeteries across the state.
The governor called on the people of Sokoto State to offer more support to his administration as it strives to transform the state.
Also speaking, the Deputy Governor, Idris Muhammed Gobir, said the construction of an Islamiyya school within the mosque premises would strengthen knowledge among younger people, which is a an essential requirement in Islam.
He urged communities to ensure their children attend both Islamic and Western schools so as to become more useful members of the society.
Similarly, the Minister of State for Works, Barr. Bello Goronyo, disclosed that Kirare village once hosted some disciples of the 19th-century Islamic reformer, Sheikh Usmanu Danfodiyo.
He praised the Governor for providing both a mosque and an Islamiyya school in the community.
The Minister further stated that the Federal Government is intensifying efforts to ensure the timely completion of various road projects in the region and called for continued public support.
In his remarks, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, represented by the Wazirin Sokoto, Prof. Sambo Wali Junaid, commended the Governor for promoting Islamic affairs through the construction of mosques, Islamiyya schools, and support for Muslim preachers.
The Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Jabir Sani Mai Hulla, said ver 33 new and remodeled mosques have so far been commissioned across the state.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Goronyo Local Government Area, Zubairu Yari Goronyo, thanked the governor for constructing a road leading to Kirare village, noting that it would significantly improve socio-economic activities in the area.
The event was attended by Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, and other dignitaries.
