Kebbi Governor Appoints Jega as Amirul Hajj

 

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has constituted a 19-member committee for the 2026 Hajj, with Alhaji Ahmad Jafar Jega, a former Comptroller General of the Nigeria Correctional Service, as the state’s 2026 Amirul Hajj.

 

The Secretary to the State Government released the list of the state 2026 Hajj delegation mandated to oversee and coordinate the Hajj operations.

 

The committee is also liaise with relevant agencies, and safeguard the welfare of Kebbi State pilgrims throughout the exercise.

 

They are also to ensure compliance with all agreements between the State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, the National Hajj Commission ( NAHCON), and airline operators.

The committee’s mandate is to work with the State Pilgrims Welfare Agency on all matters relating to Hajj operations; supervise the overall conduct of the 2026 Hajj and advise government on issues to improve the conduct of the pilgrimage.

 

Members of the 2026 Hajj Committee are Hon. Hussaini Sulaiman Kangiwa,  Sen. Bala Ibn. Na-Allah, the state Commissioner of Police, Umar Muhammad Hadejia, Abubakar Muhammad Kana, Babale Umar Yauri,  Hon. Garba Muhammad Bena, and Hon. Sulaiman Fana.

 

The rest are Aliyu Bello Muh’d, the Magajin Rafin Gwandu, Dr. Haliru Bala Jikan-Daudu, Zayyanu Bello Haruna Rasheed, Hon. Halima Muhammad Bande, Hon. Halima Hassan Kamba,  Mustapha Usman Ka’oje, Muhammad Arzika Bawa, the Sarkin Kabin Jega, Umar Ahmed Saraki, Kadi Sadiq Usman Mukhtar, Justice Nuraddeen Muhammad, and Sahabi Boyi Gemu, who will serve as Secretary of the committee.

Meanwhile, the Amirul Hajj and his team, on Friday, inspected the Hajj Camp in Birnin Kebbi.

 

They were conducted round the facility by the Executive Chairman of the Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Alhaji Faruku Musa Yaro.

 

The inspection was to assess the level of preparedness ahead of the commencement of the airlift of pilgrims.

 

Jega expressed satisfaction with the state of facilities and the level of preparedness by the pilgrims agency, commending it for demonstrating strong readiness to deliver a successful exercise.

 

He appreciated Governor Idris for finding them worthy of the assignment and pledged to discharge their duties responsibly and ensure a smooth and successful Hajj exercise.
