The Federal Government has advised stakeholders in the Shea sub-sector to take advantage of the potential so as to improve shea nut production and processing to met the required international market standards.
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Evelyn Ngige, stated this in a key note address at stakeholders sensitisation programme on Shea nut quality improvement in Minna.
Represented by Alhaji Gata Liman, Director, Federal Product Inspection Service Department (FPISD), said the programme was to highlight the standard practice required to maintain quality of Shea nut produced in Niger state.
Earlier in his welcome address, Alhaji Gata Liman, Director FPISD, represented by Dafang Sule, Deputy Director FPISD,
said the programme was to create awareness on the requirements for improving shea nut quality as key component of prescribed standards for agro – export.
In her remarks, Hajiya Jummai Abubakar, Coordinator of National Association of Shea Butter Processors in Niger, called on the Federal and state governments to support training of women in modern processing.
