Fintiri condoles Gurin residents over another boat mishap

The Adamawa state Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has condoled the residents of Gurin town in Fufore local government area over the Monday’s afternoon boat mishap that claimed lives.
Reports indicated that the boat accident occured when over 50 villagers mostly farmers with their belongings overloaded the boat to avoid being trapped at farm side as heavy rainstorm set in at kwatan Mallam Adamu village in Gurin town of Fufore local government area in the state.
Governor Fintiri who visited the area yesterday (Tuesday) sympathised with families who lost their loved ones in the accident warning that extra-caution should be taken when ever engaging on a trip so that human lives can be safeguarded.
Fintiri in campany of top government functionaries advised that henceforth proper records of passengers should be taken warning that overload must be stopped forthwith with a view to avoid negligence while on transit.
While acknowledging that accident is beyond human control but observed that some are avoidable if precautionary steps are apply directing the traditional rulers to sensitise their subjects on the importance of obeying simply rules governing our undertakings in whatever we do
Answering questions from journalists, Executive Secretary of the Adamawa state Emergency Management Agency,ADSEMA,Dr. Suleiman Aminu Mohammed said report at his disposal revealed that 2 dead bodies of Gurin two residents have been recovered and 12 have been rescued alive as 13 are still missing.
Aminu confirmed that investigation by his team has shown that over 50 passengers were on board with 2 motorcycles and 3 bicycles while everyone was running to catch up the only available infected boat due to heavy rain storm that set in at the moment.
