Fire outbreak destroys over 300 homes in Guyuk

Fire of large proportion has destroyed a whole settlement leaving more than 300 people homeless and property worth millions of Naira destroyed.

The fire from unknown source was said to have started around 11:30pm Wednesdayin Rawe a suburb of Guyuk Town in Guyuk Local Government destroyed animals, food item, clothing a and other valuable items in its wake

Residents were said to have heard a distress call in the neighborhood where the fire was said to have started. Aided by the harmattan wind and lack of water to fight the inferno, it spread fast enough since most of the thatched houses were built close enough.

A visit to the area showed residents sitting outside as their houses have been destroyed in the inferno. Worst still are women and children, with no immediate basic necessities of life. One wonders how these vulnerable people will cope with the biting harmattan wind in the night and the heat of the sun in the day.

Speaking on behalf of the affected residents Mallam Magaji Yakubu one of the victims called National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Adamawa State Management Agency ADSEMA and Guyuk Local Government to come to their aid.
