The first female Vice-chancellor in Nigeria, Prof. Grace Alele-Williams has been nominated for the prestigious honour of the University of Benin.
Vice-chancellor of the University, Prof. Faraday Orumwense disclosed this at a Media briefing preceding the 43rd Convocation/47th founder’s Day Ceremonies of the Institution scheduled to begin on Wednesday 22nd November 2017.
The honouree, a Professor of Mathematics is a former Vice-chancellor of the University before she became a Vice-chancellor.
Orumwense, said the Convocation lecture will be delivered by a former Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo and Dr. Solomon Arase, former Inspector-general of Police, will deliver the Convocation and the Founder’s Day lectures on Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd November 2017 respectively.
He said a total of 9,993 have been found worthy for academic honors in the 2015/2016 academic session, out of which100 graduands made First Class honors, while 1843 and 4607 made Second Class Upper and Second Class Lower Degrees respectively.
