The Nigeria’s first match against Cameroon at the ongoing Africa Men Volleyball Nations Tournament in Cairo,Egypt earlier slated for Sunday 22nd October has been rescheduled for Wednesday 25th October, 2017.
The rescheduling was a result of flight schedule that hampered the early take off of the National volleyball team, an action that compelled the team to arrive late to Cairo, Egypt
A statement signed by the team’s Media Officer, Kehinde Lamidi, explained thar the president of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engr Musa Nimrod said it took the intervention of the former president of the federation and current member of CAVB, Habu Gumel to secure the rescheduling of the match else Nigeria would have been worked -over.
“Federation informed CAVB the situation of the flight schedule and the former President, Habu Gumel intervened on our behalf and it was granted. So, on behalf of the federation and entire lovers of the game in Nigeria, I appreciate Engr Habu GumeI for his intervention anf support to the federation and national teams”
The National male team has since arrived Cairo ahead of its second match number 16 of the tournament against Morrocco on the 24th of October, 2017.
The coach of the team, Japhet Nuhu who joined the players and lovers of the game to thank Habu Gumel for his quick intervention, promised that his men would reciprocate the gesture by winning a world cup ticket in the championship.
“We give thanks to God for the rescheduling of the match, it will give us the opportunity to watch Cameroon and Morocco’s match before we engage them and playing morocco first is more preferred”
The next day 25th of October is slated for the rescheduled match of pool C between Nigeria & Cameroon.
