The Interim National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), North East Zone, Dr. Umar Duhu, has reminded the members of the party that so far the party has not constituted Executive Committee anywhere in the country and I any chapter, doing so by members is a nullity that would be sanctioned by the party.

Duhu made the statement during an interactive session with newsmen yesterday in Yola, adding that, the party will not fold its arms to watch party faithful circumventing the rules of the party with impunity

saying that severe sanctions will be meted out to any defaulting chapter.

“Any state Chapter or any branch of the party that decides to constitute an executive before the congress is conducting an exercise in nullity and it will not be accepted by the party.

“We have guidelines and they stipulated the time and days of the congresses and those that will contest elections will be allowed to campaign to the electorates and members of the party,” he said.

He added that as a party that respects rule of law, APC will ensure that the conduct of congresses will be strictly regulated in other to ensure that only those that are genuinely voted occupy party positions in Nigeria.

He however said the party membership at the polling unit and local government levels will all participate in the congresses noting that delegates will be elected to participate at the national convention of the party through open secret balloting.

He added that the party will set congress committees in each state and local governments of the country, which will supervise the conduct of the congresses as stipulated by the party’s rules and guidelines adding that whenever a consensus was reached out, it has to be backed by all the stakeholders of the party in the area.

“Consensus can only be made through the unanimous agreement of all stakeholders and subjected to a yes or no votes before it can be endorsed,” he said.

He said the party, during its last National Executive Committee meeting, has agreed to form committees for the congresses and the National Convention and that already names are being collated and will be published in some national newspapers soon.
