At least fifty houses have been destroyed by flood at Kutufare village, in Gudu local government area of Sokoto state.
The member of the state House of assembly representing the area, Alhaji Sani Yakubu disclosed this to Journalists in Sokoto yesterday.
Yakubu also stated that assorted household items belonging to the victims had been destroyed by the flood.
The lawmaker said that the incident occurred on July 26 in the night, as a result of the overflow of water from Kalmalo river.
Yakubu further disclosed that about sixty five farmlands and assorted farm produce believed to be worth millions of naira had been destroyed by the flood.
Peoples Daily gathered that the farm produce destroyed include sweet potatoes, millet, guinea corn, beans and cassava, among others.
“I am appealing to the state government to take an urgent action to prevent the road from total breakage,” Yakubu, urged.
