Taraba State government through the Environmental and Sanitation Agency (TSESA), has commenced total clearance of drainage channels across 16 LGAs to avert impending flood incidents in the state.

Chairman of the agency, Hon. Iliya Kefas told journalists during the sanitation tour on Tuesday that, the development was part of governor Agbu Kefas’ desire to ensure a healthy Taraba environment and cleanliness within township.

Hon. Kefas also disclosed that the Governor had approved funds to ensure total evacuation of wast and clearance of all blocked drainage channels in the state.

He noted that the agency has also commenced spreading of herbicide for bush clearing on roadsides, aim at ensuring pedestrians safety from harmful rodents.

“Through the agency, governor Agbu Kefas has approved funds to ensure cleanliness across townships in the state to avert flooding, and encourage healthy environment.

“We have engaged thousands of youths. Some are engage in sweeping, some for opening the blocked drainages while others are spreading herbicides by the roadsides”. Hon. Iliya explained.

Meanwhile, residents praised governor Kefas for the effort, noted that the development has greatly improved hygiene within the state townships.

They called for sustainability of the exercise to achieve the desired target.
