Food security: Ango promises ARDS’ sectoral transformation

Date:

The new Mandate Secretary, FCT Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat (FCT-ARDS), Abdullahi Suleiman Ango has assured that the Administration FCTA will assiduously work towards the sectorial transformation of the agricultural sub-sector to match the ever increasing population of the Territory.

He noted that the agricultural sub-sector in the FCT has a lot of potential of providing employment for the teeming youth population apart from being an enabler of feeding her citizenry.

Ango gave this assurance when he officially took over the mantle of leadership of the Secretariat in Abuja, in the wake of the recent deployment  by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

He also noted the critical role agriculture plays as the backbone of Nigeria’s economy, particularly in light of its rapidly growing population.

According to him:  “Agriculture remains the backbone of our economy and with the increasing population in the FCT, it is imperative that we embrace innovative practices to enhance food security, create jobs, and empower the youth.”

Ango underscored his zero-tolerance policy for complacency; urging the staff to prioritize professionalism and teamwork.

The Mandate Secretary also expressed heartfelt gratitude to FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, for entrusting him with the responsibility.

Earlier while welcoming the Mandate Secretary to the Secretariat, director of Cooperative and Rural Development, Engr. Gbemi Josiah Omole,  who spoke on behalf of the ARDS management team, assured him of the teams full support in achieving his vision for sustainable growth in the agricultural sector.

Omole adds: “Your leadership comes at a pivotal time when we need to make positive impacts on the lives of FCT residents and we are confident that your expertise will usher in a new era of progress and development,” he added.
