The Kaduna Progressives Forum has launched a scathing attack on former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, describing his recent criticisms of Governor Uba Sani as “the bitter ramblings of a man drunk on his fading relevance.”

In a hard-hitting press release signed by its Chairman, Comrade Musa Isa, the group lambasted El-Rufai for accusing Governor Sani of sycophantically defending President Bola Tinubu, calling the former governor’s remarks “a desperate attempt to remain politically relevant after years of being in limbo.”

“El-Rufai’s obsession with clinging to power even after leaving office is both pathetic and dangerous,” the statement read. “This is the same man who allegedly ran Kaduna like a personal estate, leaving behind a trail of debt, insecurity, and a fractured society. Now, he cannot stand to see Governor Uba Sani cleaning up his mess with dignity and strategic governance.”

The Kaduna Progressives Forum accused El-Rufai of hypocrisy, pointing out that during his tenure, he was notorious for suppressing dissent and engaging in sycophantic politics to please whoever held the reins of power in Abuja.

“El-Rufai has no moral standing to lecture anyone on political integrity. His tenure was marked by authoritarianism, reckless borrowing, and policies that deepened ethnic and religious divisions in Kaduna State. Uba Sani’s administration is undoing that damage through inclusive governance, infrastructural development, and responsible fiscal management—achievements that clearly unsettle El-Rufai,” the statement added.

The group further described Governor Sani as “a leader focused on substance over noise,” contrasting him with El-Rufai’s “Twitter governance and self-serving media theatrics.”

“It is obvious that El-Rufai’s attacks stem from frustration. His failed attempts to manipulate Kaduna’s political landscape from behind the scenes have been met with firm resistance. Governor Uba Sani refuses to be a puppet, and that has rattled the former governor’s fragile ego,” Comrade Musa Isa declared.

The Kaduna Progressives Forum concluded by warning El-Rufai to “desist from his petty outbursts” and allow Kaduna State to progress under Governor Sani’s leadership.

“Kaduna has moved on from the El-Rufai era of division and authoritarianism. Governor Uba Sani represents a new dawn of unity, development, and genuine leadership. No amount of bitterness from political has-beens will change that.”
