A pro-youth Non-governmental organization, Youth Renewness Foundation (YRF) has donated relief materials worth millions of Naira to the needy in Durumi Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp.
While presenting the items consisting of 80 bags of branded rice, tomato pastes, beverages, pastas and over-the-counter drugs to leadership of Durumi IDP Camp, Chairman BOT of the YRF, Engr. Abdallah Suleiman Katsina explained that the gesture was aimed at bringing succour to the people.
He added that the visit was part of the objective of the foundation to identify with the indigents and those who have suffered some form of displacement as a result of restiveness in the North East, Nigeria.
According to him, the foundation has targeted people at the lowest rung of the ladder, in order to empower them, because of their vulnerable nature.
“Aside the food, we donate to you, we are taking inventory of your other needs, especially the youths here.
“We are going to empower the youths in the camp through skills acquisition and vocations to enable them fend for themselves.
“For those who already have vocations but were dislodged from their places of work as a result of restiveness, we will provide you with the tools and materials you need to continue your work.
“And, for those who want to go to school, we will work out on how we can get you back to school.
“It is part of what the foundation is doing in line with its vision of engaging, enlightening and empowering the youths,” he stressed.
Responding, the Secretary of the IDP camp, Bala Yusuf, who spoke on behalf of the Chairman, Ibrahim Ahmudu, expressed their joy at such generous gesture from the foundation, emphasizing that the donation ranks one of the highest, so far received at the camp from a single organization.
His words: “We thank you for identifying with us with these gifts. We have 12 different units in this camp.
“We will ensure it goes round to all the units, equally. We want to thank you again for the drugs.
“Good enough, we have doctors who will dispense them to the inmates who may have need for them.”
