Benue State Governor-elect Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has pledged to reset governance in the State.
Fr. Alia was declared winner of the Benue Governorship election on Monday March 20th,2023 by the Independent Electoral Commission Commission (INEC), having scored majority of vote cast.
He polled 473,933 votes to defeat his closest rival Titus Uba of the Peoples’ Democratic Party,PDP who gott 223,913.
Delivering his victory speech to newsmen shortly after he was declared Governor at his residence in Makurdi, he regretted that governance in the State has hit a historic low, stressing that his election is a mandate to reform and recalibrate governance in Benue.
While dedicating the victory to all Benue people especially those who thirst for the dividends of democracy, Fr.Alia assured that by the victory, the liberation, the people have all yearned for is at hand.
The clergy man promised that his administration will clear the backlog of arrears of salaries, and pensions and gratuities, resettle IDPs to their ancestral homes, address persistent insecurity challenges and set the stage for a prosperous Benue.
