The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has requested for the release of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Mr. Okey Wali, the immediate past president of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA).

A statement signed by Dr. Peter I. Ozo-Eson, General Secretary, NLC Headquarters read: “We are dismayed by the abduction of Mr. Okey Wali. We appeal to his abductors to release him unconditionally and unharmed.”

According to the statement, “Abduction is a criminal act used to extort money from victims or their families or friends. It is also an unacceptable tool of terror which we must all resist or fight.”

NLC described the incident as intimidation, which it would not give in to. It however urged the concerned security forces to rise to the challenge of rescuing Mr. Wali, through the use of quality intelligence and equipment.
