The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have reaffirmed their commitment to a closer partnership aimed at strengthening safety and security operations across Sokoto State and the wider North-West zone.
The pledge was made on Thursday during a courtesy visit by the Zonal Commanding Officer of FRSC Zone RS10, Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) Shoba Akande, to the NSCDC Zonal Commander, Assistant Commandant General (ACG) Bello Argungu, at the NSCDC Zone 10 Headquarters in Sokoto.
Speaking during the engagement, ACM Akande noted that the visit was essential to sustaining the long-standing rapport between the two agencies, particularly in the face of emerging regional security challenges.
Akande conveyed a goodwill message from the FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, highlighting that the Corps has designated 2026 as a year of “professionalism, discipline, and improved service delivery.”
“The Corps Marshal has clearly set the tone for 2026. This mandate of enhanced service delivery can only be achieved through strategic partnerships such as this.
“We are here to seek even deeper collaboration in the discharge of our mutual responsibilities”, Akande stated.
In his response, ACG Bello Argungu welcomed the FRSC delegation and emphasized that inter-agency cooperation is non-negotiable for effective governance and public safety.
“We will continue to sustain the existing synergy between the NSCDC and the FRSC.
“Collaboration remains the key to achieving our shared mandate of protecting lives and property in the region”, he stated.
The meeting comes at a time of increased focus on coordinated operations among security and safety agencies in the North-West.
By aligning their efforts, the FRSC and NSCDC aim to
improve emergency Response: Faster coordination during road mishaps and security incidents; and
enhance personnel discipline: Shared training and professional standards as well as leveraging the NSCDC’s mandate alongside FRSC’s highway oversight.
The visit concluded with both commanders expressing confidence that this renewed chapter of cooperation will yield tangible results for the citizens of Sokoto and the surrounding states.
