As the residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) today join others across d globe to celebrate this year’s Christmas, the persisting long queues at petrol outlets in the city has marred the event for them.

Also, the sudden mounting of millitary security checkpoints at various parts of the Territory due to d country’s prevailing insecurity further added to the residents woes.

Investigation revealed that on Tuesday, Abuja residents closed from work to suddenly accosted by several military Check points on major roads within the city, thereby causing a heavy traffic gridlock and pains for them.

According our correspondent, who went round the city, vehicular movement was restricted on the busy Berger -Wuse route and Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway.

From AYA round about to Berger and Utako District, soldiers mounted check point, where motorists were forced to drive on a slow pace.

Not left out, residents moving on foot especially those carrying big bags were also subjected to a lot of scrutiny.

A cross section of the residents, who reacted to the development, said they were taken aback by the turn out of things in the FCT during the period.

They decried that the current situation (Fuel scarcity and tough security measure) in the FCT seemed to have worsen their plight throughout the festive period.
