Essono, a Gabonese U-17 official has admitted his team lost to a superior side after the Golden Eaglets overturned a 2-1 loss to triumph by 5 goals to nil  in Calabar on Saturday.. “It was a very good game but we actually came here with the mind to play well. Our team is young and it was difficult for them to play here because it was difficult to play against Nigeria here,” he said.

“Nigeria is one of the best teams in Africa and I want to say that we lost to a good team. I want to wish Nigeria luck at the classification in Niger because we know Nigeria is in the best position to go to the African Cup and Good luck to Nigeria,” he stated.

The Eaglets sailed through on a 6-2 aggregate over the weekend. The Emmanuel Amuneke tutored boys have qualified for the African edition to be hosted by Niger Republic next year.
