Gaidam has nothing to do with party forms – Bego

Date:

From Uche Uche, Damaturu

Contrary to speculations making the rounds, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State and at the national level in Abuja are in charge of determining and issuing out expression of interest or nomination forms to those wishing to stand for elective posts under the party, and not Governor Ibrahim Gaidam.

Gaidam’s Spokesman, Abdullahi Bego revealed this in a chat with newsmen in Damaturu yesterday. He was responding to allegations made by one Mohammed Gaskanta ostensibly on behalf of ‘elders’ from Yobe Zone C that certain people have tried to collect party nomination forms but that they were “told that the governorship and senate forms are with the governor”.

Bego said: “What does the governor has to do with those forms? The forms are under the control of the party headquarters in Abuja and the branch of the party in the state. The governor does not control or issue any form.

“Interestingly, those who made the allegation have not mentioned the person or persons who told them the forms are with the governor. And it is simple common sense that the governor cannot be the one issuing out or holding nomination forms which are in the possession of party executives.

“In addition, the person who made the allegation that is Mohammed Gaskanta is not an elder from Yobe Zone C. He does not speak on behalf of any APC elders in Yobe Zone C. I am from Yobe Zone C myself, as you know, and I can tell you that Gaskanta does not speak for anybody from my Zone. He knew his troubles in the party and he just want to be noticed, that’s all”, Bego said.

Bego advised any party member who has any requests with the party to refer his requests to the national and state executives of the party.

The governor’s spokesman added that the APC is in a ‘solid state’ in Yobe, and that “it is poised not only to retain the governorship seat in the 2015 election but also contribute significantly to unseating the PDP and driving it out of power in Abuja”.
