From Mustapha Adamu, Kano

Garba Yusuf Abubakar, popularly known as Garba Izala, a close political associate to former governor of Kano State, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, has been included in the list of 8 commissioner -nominees, submitted to Kano House of Assembly, by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Abubakar had recently parted ways with the Shekarau, a serving senator, representing Kano centra’ district, and joined Ganduje’s camp.

The state government had on Monday submitted the names of the nominees for the position of commissioners, to fill the vacuum left by some members of the state executive council to contest in 2023 general elections.

In a letter from Ganduje, read by the speaker, Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari during today’s plenary session, the governor  pointed out that that the new commissioners would be appointed to fill the vacuum created by the resignation of some commissioners.

The Speaker explained that an invitation would be sent to the nominees to appear before the house on Monday 27th August for screening.

The 8 nominees are Ibrahim Dan’azumi, Abdulhalim Abdullahi, Ya’u Abdullahi Yan’shana, Garba Yusuf Abubakar, Dr. Yusuf Abubakar.

Others are Adamu Abdu Fanda, Saleh Kausani and Lamin Sani Zawiyya.
