President John Mahama of Ghana has called on African leaders to come up with a blueprint that would tackle the rampant cases of crashes in the continent.
Mahama, who made this call in Abuja, at the weekend, during Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) 5th Annual lecture series said most deaths in Africa were caused by road crashes.
Represented by his vice, Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, the President called on stakeholders and interests groups to team up with government agencies to solve the menace.
“We have to set a cause of prevention and reduction through the use of the right system,” adding that other countries have successfully used the system.
While explaining the adverse impacts of road crashes in the continent, President Mahama said it rubbishes poverty eradication programmes of African nations.
On his part, President Goodluck Jonathan, condemned the high rate of road crashes in the continent and said his government was determined to reduce it to the barest minimum in the country.
