From David Hassan, Gombe

The Head of Civil Service (HOS) in Gombe  State, Alhaji Ahmed Abdullahi has lauded the effort of Gombe state governor Alhaji Muhammed Inuwa Yahaya for supporting the workforce by injecting the total sum of N600million to eliminate a financial burden.

He said it will help construct government office.

He made this known in an interview with news men in Gombe on Friday, describing  the edifice as one of the most impactful infrastructural investments in recent history.

Abdullahi commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya for initiating the project, noting that for three decades, successive administrations had struggled with inadequate office space, forcing the state to rent buildings across the Gombe metropolis for various ministries and government agencies.

Peoples Daily recalls that, Governor,  Inuwa Yahaya, has officially flagged off the construction of a new State Secretariat Complex valued at N68.58 billion.

“The current secretariat, which was constructed about 29  years ago, only accommodates two ministries and the Office of the Head of Service.

“In the last three years, the government has been paying more than N600 million annually on rented spaces ,a cost that is simply unsustainable,” Abdullahi said.
