Former vice president and one of the presidential aspirants on the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was in Sokoto yesterday, where he pledged to abide by the outcome of the party presidential primary election, slated for December.
Atiku, who held a closed-door meeting with party stakeholders as well as the designated delegates in the state apparently to solicit supports over party’s convention, also said he is optimistic of winning the ticket of his party.
Source prior to the parley confirmed that the one-time presidential candidate of the defunct Action Congress (AC) also doled out N50, 000 cash each to the state’s delegates. The presidential aspirant also slashed N5 million as personal contributions to the party secretariat.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after the parley, Atiku said he was in the state to solicit support from the delegates as well as the party stakeholders as to emerge victorious in the forthcoming primary.
He dismissed the insinuations that the race would create disaffection among aspirants, saying, “We have resolved to support whosoever wins the primary.”
