Gombe records one case is Lassa fever

At least, one person was said to have been infected with Lassa fever in Gombe state.

Commissioner for Health Dr Habu Dahiru stated this shortly while briefing Journalists after the state executive council meeting.

He said a 33 year old woman in Shamaki ward in Gombe local government area has been infected with Lassa fever after suffering from fever.

He said her sample was taken for test in a laboratory at  the Federal Teaching Hospital in Gombe which which revealed it was Lassa fever.

According to him, the affected woman was said to have traveled to Taraba state for Christmas where she contacted the disease.

Dr. Dahiru also called on the public to always keep their environment clean and avoid contaminated food.
