Chief Press Secretary to Benue State Kula Tersoo has stressed that some reforms, measures and policies of Governor Hyacinth Alia will bring about hardship that Benue people would have to endure.
Kula said this when the executive and members of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Benue State chapter paid him a courtesy visit in Government House on Friday 21st July,2023.
He said the Governor has come as a reformist, maintaining that such a person does not have a friend.
Kula also, averrred that his boss wants to entrench probity, accountability and transparency in governance, adding “we want to introduce this with practical reforms”.
Said he, “There was alot of financial recklessness in the last administration. We are not digging to witch hunt anyone. Politicians and other Benue people want the Governor to rush but he want to entrench probity, accountability and transparency in governance.
“If Benue cannot get it right under him, then it is bad. Already, roads have been earmarked and something significant will happen soon”.
The Governor’s spokesman intimated that governmentt has unfroze some of its acctounts and has also, within 40 days paid two (2) months salaries to some category of workers while the first phase of verification exercise for teachers and local government workers has been concluded.
“We are going in for the second phase. Those within the service the are perpetuating this act. Some persons have been collecting salaries in different ministries and agencies. We have agreed to hand over security to traditional rulers to fish criminals in their domains because they are closer and know them”, he emphasized.
On discovery of vehicles by the Asset Recovery Committee constituted by the State government, Kula frowned at the conflicting stories from the PDP, Akase and the immediate past governor Samuel Ortom on the issue and questioned, Who told the former gov that the State Executive Council can approve vehicles for him to take away? Alia will not recycle individuals as Commissioners”,he concluded.
Earlier, Chairman Correspondents’ Chapel Emmanuel Antswen lauded Governor Alia for appointing Kula as his Chief Press Secretary and promised that his members will give him all the needed support and cooperation to succeed.
