Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has acknowledged the tremendous role played by the media in the success recorded by his administration so far.
Governor Alia made the commendation at the workshop organized by Correspondents’ Chapel, Benue State at the weekend in Makurdi.
Represented by his Chief Press Secretary, CPS Tersoo Kula, he pledged his continuous commitment in fostering harmonious relationship with the media in development of the State.
In his paper entitled ‘Sustaining government/Media relationship in Nigeria’, the CPS emphasized the need for unhindered access to information to the media, frowning at the act of government tracking down media organizations or journalists.
He said the media remains the touch bearer of the society and should be accorded respect, noting that often times, they face the challenge of trust and transparency from government.
