Niger state governor Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has disclosed that after employing over 8,000 graduates of National Certificate of Education (NCE) Higher National Diploma and University graduates it still has over 38,000 unemployed graduates on the waiting list.
Governor Aliyu made this known on Wednesday in Minna, when he received the Director of Education Corps of the Nigeria Air force Air Commodore Sani Naiya in a courtesy visit at government house.
Governor Aliyu lamented the high unemployment rate of graduates said any opportunity provided by individuals and corporate organizations to reduce the figure will be welcomed by the government.
Aliyu, while responding to the remark by the Director of Education said that the NAF school, built in Minna by the Niger state government but donated to the Nigeria Air Force, will employ teachers and non-teaching staff from the locality pledged to cooperate with the force to achieve its objective.
The governor promised to assist NAF in the fencing of the school and construction of access roads which has made accessibility to the institution especially during the rainy season difficult before directing the Niger State Transport Authority to include the school in its route for the movement of students and teachers.
Earlier, the Director of Education Air Commodore Sani Naiya appreciated the state government for constructing and donating the school to the force assuring that the ration of recruitment of pupils and students into the school will be reviewed in favour of the state.
Air Commodore Naiya said the Nigeria Air Force schools is noted for maintaining high educational standards which has resulted in students of the school winning many national and international laurels saying that such standards will be set in the school in Minna.
