The Niger State Governor, Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu has picked a nomination and expression forms for Niger East senatorial elections scheduled for February, 2015 under his party the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a manner similar to that of the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) and Jonathan Actualization Movement JAM, a nongovernmental organization in Niger State called Talba Succeess Movement has succeeded in purchasing the Niger East senatorial seat form for Aliyu under the platform of PDP .
The organization is begging the state governor to accede to their request to contest the election in 2015
The group led by Alhaji Hamisu Jankaro consisting of youth and notable politicians mostly from the zone comprising nine local governments yesterday stormed the state PDP secretariat in their large number to pick the form which cost N4.5 million according to party guideline.
Earlier, PDP stakeholders from the zone held a meeting where the candidature of the outgoing governor was adopted as a sole candidate for the party in the zone for the forth coming senatorial election scheduled for February, 2015.
The meeting presided over by Alhaji Mamman Gambo, the Vice chairman of PDP, Barrister Tanko Beji and the nine PDP local government chairmen and their secretaries resolved to zone all the elective and appointive offices zoned to the senatorial district to the three emirates in the zone.
While declaring the meeting open, the zonal Vice chairman of the PDP, Niger-East, Alhaji Gambo and the Deputy Chairman informed other stakeholders that by the zoning arrangement in the state, the Senatorial zone is to produce a senator, the Speaker of the state Assembly and a Minister.
Speaking on behalf of the nine local government chairmen of the PDP, Mr. Yakubu Garba, the chairman of Gurara local government PDP and the chairman of the senatorial PDP chairmen’s forum disclosed that after extensive deliberations, the forum agreed to zone the sole senatorial ticket to Minna emirate, ministerial slot to Suleja and Speaker of the state Assembly to Kagara emirate respectively.
Mr. Garba said the decisions were taken towards ensuring equity, justice and fair play to enable the party come out victorious in the coming general election a position also collaborated by Alhaji Shehu Ahmadu, the chairman of the PDP zone B senatorial secretaries’ forum.
