Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has presented an estimate of N1.5trillion 2025 budget proposal to the House of Assembly for scrutiny and approval.
The budget tagged, “Budget of Hope for Sustainability and Food Security” was presented by the Governor to the State Assembly in Minna, saying that the 2025 budget is higher than the 2024 appropriation, with 48.3%.
According to the governor, the total anticipated revenue to the state in 2025 is N1,558,887,565,358.00 trillion higher than the 2024 Appropriation by 48.32%.
The estimate comprises N196, 335, 361, 443.00 billion or 13% of the budget size as recurrent expenditure and N1,362,552,203, 915.00 trillion representing 87% of the total budget size as capital expenditure.
The revenue is to be derived from the following sources: to include; Statutory Allocation – N53,400,000,000.00, Value Added Tax – N85,300,555,454.00.
Others are from FAAC Receipts -N236,900,000,000.00 while IGR-N63,360,000,000.00 just as Other IGR-N186,368,241,948.00 and Capital Receipt-N933,558,767,956.00 making a Total Budget of N1,558,887,565,35.
Accordingly, the 2025 budget was based on the Economic and Fiscal Update (EFU), Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP), and Budget Statement 2025-2027 as passed by the State Assembly.
The governor noted that the budget revenue would be derived from Statutory Allocation, Value Added Tax, Other FAAC Receipts, IGR, other IGR, and Capital receipts.
