From Yakubu Mustapha Minna

The Vice Chancellor, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai Professor Adamu Abu Kasimu has been purportedly suspended just two months before the expiration of his tenure in the institution.
It was reliably gathered that his suspension followed the directive of the Niger state governor, Mohammed Umar Bago through the Commissioner for Tertiary Education Abdullahi Adamu Mammagi which is unconnected with alleged disrespect and disobedience to his orders.
It was further revealed that the governor also threatened to sack the said commissioner if the order is not carried out as directed hence the issuance of suspension letter to the 5th Vice Chancellor, professor Adamu Kasim of IBBUL.
The University sources confirmed that the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, Professor Hassan Ibrahim has been appointed as the acting Vice Chancellor with immediate effect and has assumed duty.
Another top management staff of the Niger state Ministry for Tertiary Education further confirmed that the Vice Chancellor was asked to hand over to the next highest ranking official.
All efforts to get the content or a copy of the letter from the university management and the affected ministry proved abortive as non of them was ready to disclose the actual content of the letter to the public.
