Gov. Gaidam approves additional N325.6m for LG retirees

Yobe state governor, Alh. Ibrahim Gaidam has approved an additional sum of N325.6 million for the payment of outstanding liabilities of 316 retired local government staff following their verification by the committee set up by the governor for the settlement of liabilities of all local government retirees.
This was contained in a press statement from the office of the governor’s Director-General for Press Affairs, Abdullahi Bego and made available to our reporter yesterday in Damaturu, the state capital.
According to the statement, of the 316 retirees, 62 are deceased and their entitlements will be paid to their next-of-kin.
It would be recalled that on March 11th, 2019, the governor had approved the sum of N249.7 million for the settlement of the liabilities of 250 local government retirees in addition to another sum of N302.3 million on the 14th February 2019, for another batch of 316 retired local government employees thus bring the sum total of such payment to N877.6 million between the two months of March and April, 2019.
The press statement added that the verification committee set up by the governor for the settlement of the liabilities of local government staff will continue with the exercise.
