Gov. Mohammed orders repair of collapsed bridge

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Muhammad Abdulkadir Muhammad has directed the completion of the collapsed bridge at Gwaram of Alkaleri Local Government Area.
The Governor gave the directive yesterday,when he led government officials to inspect the collapsed bridge in the area.
He also directed the Secretary to the State Government and Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Works to ensure that the contractor handing the bridge rehabilitation completed the work within the directive period.
Governor said the directive was to ensure immediate action in order to alleviate the sufferings faced by the affected communities.
In a remark, the Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Works, Engineer Stephen Abubakar who explained that flood was the responsibe for the collapsed of the bridge, said its would be expanded to cater for the needs of members of the community.
Meanwhile, Governor Muhammad has sympathized with the victims of flood disaster in Bakin Kogi, Pali District of Alkaleri Local Government Area and assured of immediate government intervention.
The Governor said team of experts would be directed to visit the area for environmental survey with a view to assist towards averting the recurrence of the disaster.
Alhaji Kabiru Yusuf Kobi had earlier told the governor that the flood disaster has affected 17 houses and other places in the area.
Recently it was reported that Bauchi state government says it will partner with the federal government to construct culvert as well as rehabilitate part of the road affected by flood along Bauchi Gombe Highway in Lariski village of kirfi local government area.
Governor, Mohammed expressed determination of his administration to take advantage of the area in promoting dry season farming for overall development of the community and the state.
Senator Bala Muhammad who said his administration is committed to meeting the need of people, maintained that agriculture is one the areas that will be used to create job opportunities.
The governor tasked the contractor handling the project to ensure speedy completion to avoid creating hardship by the road users.
