Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi

The Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode A. Egbetokun with support of Jigawa State governor Malam Umar Namadi, launched  Police Safe Schools Innitiative and inaugurated Jigawa State Police command “Schools Protection Squad”(SPS).

The IGP who was represented by the Assistant Inspector General of Police zone 1, AIG Ahmed Ammani described the Innitiative as a move to ensure safety of schools, students, teachers, staff and community at large.

“I have directed all commissioners of Police within the zone to engage their various stakeholders in meeting to ensure that the safety of schools are guaranteed”, he said.

According to him, part of the Innitiative, training programs will be instituted for educators, administrators and security personnel, who will in turn leverage on the acquired skills to recognize and respond to security threats.

He then urged all schools, parents, community and other stakeholders to work in consonance with law enforcement agencies to champion the cause of safety and well-being for all children adding that, “we must invest our efforts, resources, and our hearts into fostering a culture of safety in our schools”.
