Gov.Nasir Idris Approves Early March Salaries for Kebbi Workers as Some Federal Employees Still Await February Pay

The Kebbi State Government has approved the immediate payment of March 2026 salaries to all categories of state civil servants in order to enable them prepare adequately for the forthcoming Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

The approval was granted by the Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, as part of measures aimed at easing the financial burden on workers ahead of the Sallah festivities marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

The development was disclosed in a statement shared by the state government on Monday, noting that the early release of salaries would assist civil servants and other government employees in making proper arrangements for the festive period.

According to the statement, the decision reflects the administration’s commitment to the welfare of workers and its determination to support them during the important religious celebration.

The move places Kebbi among a growing number of Nigerian states that have approved early payment of March salaries to enable workers prepare for the Eid festivities. Several state governments have adopted similar measures in recent days as part of efforts to cushion economic pressures on public sector employees during the period.

However, the development comes at a time when some federal government workers across the country are reportedly still awaiting payment of their February salaries, raising concerns about their financial preparedness ahead of the Sallah celebrations.

The delay in the payment of February salaries in some federal ministries, departments and agencies has been attributed to technical and administrative issues affecting personnel cost allocations in certain agencies, according to officials of the federal government.

Observers say the early salary initiative by several state governments is expected to provide significant relief to civil servants and their families as Muslims across the country prepare to mark Eid al-Fitr.
