Governor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar of Zamfara state has expressed his readiness to do anything legally possible to ensure innocent lives and properties are well protected.
Yari, who gave the assurance at the Palace of the Emir of Zurmi during a condolence visit by the Northern Governors Forum led by its Chairman, Kashim Shattima said, the armed bandits should not go un-arrested and unprosecuted considering the level of state government commitments in the security sector.
The governor has directed that, security agencies must utilize all that were deposited by the his administration in terms of adequate number of patrolling vehicles and financial allocations enough for other most needed logistics to locate and arrest all members of the dangerous group with a view to make further killings a history in the state.
“My administration is so far owing nothing to security agencies especially in terms of quick response positively to the demands contained there in a bunch of requests submitted to my office, therefore, continuation of killing of innocent people who gave me their mandate should not in any way be the result, armed banditry must stop”, Yari has warned.
“I was earlier informed by the emir of Zurmi about the bandits plan to launch an attack on Birane village and I did not hesitate to pass the message to security Chiefs, and I directed for measures to foil the attack and arrest the perpetrators, but that did not work due to reason best known to security agencies in the state,” Yari said.
Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris, in an interview with newsmen during his assessment visit on Saturday informed that, three more Mobile Police unit will immediately be deployed to the state with a view to beef up security gallant enough to smoke out and arrest the armed bandits terrorizing the peace in the state.The IGP further said, part of the measures to ensure Zamfara is terror-free state is aggressive operation comb the bush to be launched soon, adding that, no hideouts of high profiled criminals would continue to prevail, “Police would embark on everything possible to prevent reoccurrence of such barbaric attacks”.
Earlier, Emir of Zurmi, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku Muhammad complained that, his emirate is suffering dearth of security personnel, the situation which according to him, has contributed immensely towards giving opportunity for bandits to operate unchallenged.
