Gov. Yero threatens to revoke non-performing contracts

Kaduna state governor, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero has threatened to revoke non-performing contracts to ensure completion of all o-going projects in the state.

Speaking yesterday, during inspection of projects in Soba local government area of the state, the governor said the present administration will soon commence review of all on-going projects and will take action against contractors that have dumped project sites.

He said “the essence of the review is to ensure the completion of projects earmarked in the 2014 budget before the end of December.”

During the inspection, Yero assessed progress of work at the 28.8 kilometer Soba-Ikara road.

Governor tasked the contractor to commence second phase of work, which is laying of asphalt and completion of drainage.

“I can see that the first coat is completed; the second coat, which is laying of asphalt should begin immediately. As a matter of urgency, I want this road completed and I want the 1.6kilometer Soba township section to also be completed,” he said.

Yero reminded the contractor of the contractual obligation of keeping to completion date saying “there is no outstanding payment on this project, so I urge you to complete the work so that you can be paid the balance of the contract sum.

“I will come back here within two weeks and if I find anything contrary to what you have promised, we may have to take necessary action.”

The governor also inspected on-going construction of the 2-kilometer Tashan  Bokolo-Hayin Tudu road, which has been surface dressed with two bridges.

He also inspected the ongoing rehabilitation of LEA Primary School Lungun Soba where he expressed satisfaction with progress of work.

The governor also inspected and commissioned some projects completed by the Soba local government council.
