•Says it’s demeaning for governor to physically confront his appointee
From Mustapha Adamu, Kano
Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf has broken silence over the rumours making the rounds that he fought with the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Dr Baffa Bichi, which also led to his sack.
Governor Yusuf had recently appointed Abdullahi Musa, the state Head of Service as acting SSG after Bichi took a medical trip to Saudi Arabia following a reported ill health.
However, the announcement was greeted by widespread rumour that the governor had sacked Bichi after the duo had allegedly engaged in physical confrontation.
But speaking at the swearing-in of the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries and Special Advisers at the Government House on Tuesday, governor Yusuf described the insinuation as baseless and unfounded.
According to Yusuf, it is a sheer stupidity to have even imagined that the whole governor would have a physical confrontation with his appointee.
“I even heard somebody on radio saying he was present when I had physical confrontation with the SSG. This is ignorance and we pray to Allah to guide them aright.
“SSG is there doing well in Saudi Arabia. We wish him well and acknowledge the immense contribution he gave us that led to the emergence of our government.
“We are proud of him and we are looking forward to his return and continue to give us his contribution. Therefore, I directed that a special prayer be performed now for his recovery and safe return to Nigeria, “ Mr Yusuf said.
Governor Yusuf said the Head of Service had been appointed on acting capacity to fill the vacancy of the big office, stressing that the decision was made based on law.
