Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has visited students studying in India under the state’s scholarship scheme and presented N500,000 support to each of them.
Zulum, who is on an official trip to India, first met the students at Sharda University in Noida on Monday.
He assured them of his administration’s continuous commitment to their welfare and academic success, urging them to remain disciplined and focused on their studies.
“I am here today for one simple reason: to remind you that the Borno State Government believes in you and is investing in your future,” Zulum told the students.
“You are critical to the rebuilding of our state. The knowledge and skills you are acquiring will benefit both current and future generations.”
The cash assistance sparked excitement among the beneficiaries, who described the gesture as a major relief. Some students praised the governor for personally meeting them, saying his visit demonstrated genuine concern for their wellbeing.
Zulum later travelled to Lucknow, where he extended the same support to Borno students studying at Integral University.
He also directed that the N500,000 assistance be provided to all Borno scholarship beneficiaries in Malaysia to ensure fairness across the board.
The governor was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Barr. Mustapha Busuguma, and the Executive Secretary of BOGIS, Engr. Adam Bukar Bababe.
