Govt Yuguda cancels all activities on Democracy Day

The Bauchi State Governor Malam Isa Yuguda has cancelled all activities lined up for the celebration of 2014 Democracy Day in sympathy with the families of the victims of Jos attack last week

In a press briefing to mark 2014 Democracy Day celebration, the state Commissioner of Information, Alhaji Salihu Ibrahim Halilu, said that the Democracy Day celebrations would be marked in the state with prayers for the nation and the abducted girls of the Government girls secondary school Chibok in Borno.

“The present mood of the nation calls for a sober moment and reflections to the many problems facing the country. The day is also a mark of solidarity with the over 200 female students of Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno, abducted by the Boko Haram Sect last month”

He said that no meaningful development will be archived in a country faced with security challenges urging the people to pray for sustainable peace in Nigeria.

The Governor said, “Let me implore all and Sunday to pray for sustained peace in our land. Nigeria particularly this part of the region is passing through a trying period that calls for divine intervention.
