One of the political groups that for the election of President Bola Tinubu, Arewa New Agenda( ANA) has alerted the President of the Minster of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) plot to pit him against his supporters.
The group, which addressed a Press Conference in Abuja yesterday said the Minster’s utterances and action since assuming the office are putting a wedge between the president and those who worked for success at the polls.
The Deputy Chairman of the group Prof. Adamu Kyuka Usman, addressed the Press.
The group said some of the recent actions of the Minster’s which prayed him as a man on a mission was the unilateral revocation of Contract between the Abuja Investment Company Ltd and Messrs. Integrated Facility Management Services Ltd for the management of the International Conference Center (ICC), Abuja.
The group said being a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP, Wike might be preparing ground to challenge the President in 2027, hence his onslaught against the President’s supporters to paint his bad.
“The FCT Minister’s despotic and nepotic profiling of the North, going after the businesses and social interest of individuals and groups that are Bonafede APC members is unhelpful to the Tinubu administration and paints the picture of one undermining his master in a veiled effort to feather his political nest against 2027.”
The group which said the action of the Minister on the subject of the ICC showed that he lacks understanding of principles guiding contractual agreement, insisted the aggrieved company would approach the company for redress if he proceeds with the “ illegality.”
Warning the President to be wary of the Minster’s antics, the group called on to stop “the media charade of the FCT Minister of revoking the management contract of the ICC subsisting with Messrs. Integrated Facility Management Services Ltd.
It called on the President to insist that the Minister operate within the laid down procedures in dealing with any contractual arrangement between an institution of the FCT with other parties.
The group also wants the President to “reverse the injustice, the Minister is inflicting on hard working Nigerians and to apologize for such wrongs publicly.”
“Minister Wike in purporting to terminate the management contract between IFMSL and Abuja Investments Company Limited (AICL) exhibits ignorance of what the ICC as a global standard Event Centre stands for. The ICC is the No. 1 event center in Nigeria. It is the go-to venue for international organizations having events in Nigeria. At the time of Wike’s purported revocation of Integrated Facility Managers management contract of the ICC, a number of international organizations have booked the ICC for their events.
“These bookings are for the whole year ending December 2024. The threat of the Minister to close down the ICC has impacted negatively on these bookings which are third-party contracts with clients locally and internationally. The threat also hampers international business; drives away foreign investment and kills growth and business prospects at a time the country needs these the most.”
