A group, Abia Progressive Leaders Of Thought, has called on security agencies in the country to be on the alert to avoid the breakdown of law and order in Umuahia and other parts of Abia State during the week over the purported coronation of the governor’s anointed candidate for the governorship in 2015.

President-General of the group, Ibekwe Romanus (KSJ), in a press statement, said that there was a plan one million man-march for Tuesday in favour of one Okezie Ikpeazu, saying that the march is a plot to unleash mayhem on the peace loving people of Umuahia just to underscore a cheap political point.

The group, therefore, called on the Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba to stop any individual or group of persons from going out anywhere in Abia to harass and intimidate other members of the society.

It called on parents to stop their wards from taking part in the exercise. In the statement, the group also urged Governor Orji to stop the planned event, calling on mothers and fathers to stop this unconstitutional and unwarranted planned assault on Umuahia in particular and Abia in general.

“Nigerians may recall that Abia state has been in turmoil since the PDP conducted its ward congresses and since then accusations and counter accusations have been renting the air. Hence the need for stakeholders to act fast to save the state,” the statement read.
