As the contestation of who is the rightful winner of the primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for the Bwari Area Council continues, supporters of Shekwolo Audi Haruna, on Wednesday staged a protest at the party’s National Secretariat to reaffirm his emergence as the party’s flag bearer for the 2026 council elections.

Director-General of the New Bwari Frontiers, Comrade Kenneth Chima who led the protesters said the demonstration was to counter what he described as ‘misrepresentation of facts’ regarding the party’s primary election in the council.

Chima further claimed that some members of the party had attempted to impose fake delegates during the primaries, but the Appeal Committee of the APC upheld the petition of the authentic delegates, which confirmed Haruna as the candidate.

“If truly they claim they won, they should name the 33 delegates that voted for them,” Chima said, even as he accused some unnamed opposition elements of attempting to infiltrate the APC through the back door.

The support group lauded President Bola Tinubu, the APC National Working Committee (NWC), for their ‘fairness’ in handling the dispute. They also submitted a letter of appreciation to the national leadership of the party and described Haruna as a grassroots politician who is loved by all.

Responding, Mustapha Bala Dawakin, Chief of Staff to the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, expressed gratitude for the solidarity visit.

Dawakin assured the group that the APC remained committed to conducting free and fair elections at all levels, from the Local Government to the Presidency.

“We commend you for coming to the National Secretariat to show solidarity. The party will remain resolute in ensuring fairness in all elections,” he assured.
