A group under the banner of Sanga LGA Indigenes of Conscience has called for the rotation of the Jema’a/Sanga Federal House of Representatives seat to Sanga Local Government Area before the 2027 general elections.

The appeal was made during a press conference held on Thursday in Kafanchan, Kaduna State.

At the event, group secretary Mr. Gideon Audu stated that the call was necessary because Sanga Local Government Area has not had a representative in the House of Representatives for the constituency since Nigeria’s return to democratic rule in 1999.

He pointed out that records from the Kaduna South Senatorial District show that while other constituencies with joint local government arrangements have rotated their seats among their councils, the Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency has remained predominantly under Jema’a Local Government Area.

Audu described this situation as a clear case of political marginalization. He emphasized that Sanga has been without representation in the green chamber for about 27 years under the current constituency arrangement.

He clarified that the group’s stance is not meant to discredit past representatives from Jema’a but is a call for justice, fairness, and inclusiveness in the political process.

According to him, zoning and rotation are fundamental democratic principles designed to promote peaceful power-sharing, equity, and balanced representation—especially in constituencies composed of various local government areas and interest groups.

He cited examples like Zangon Kataf/Jaba and Kachia/Kagarko, where rotation has helped maintain political harmony and inclusiveness.

The group called on political leaders, traditional rulers, political parties, development groups, the media, and other stakeholders to support the handover of the seat to Sanga Local Government Area in 2027.

Audu also urged indigenes of Jema’a Local Government Area to step aside voluntarily from contesting the House of Representatives seat in 2027, so Sanga can have its turn.

He reaffirmed that both Jema’a and Sanga are equal partners and stated that allowing Sanga to take its turn would foster justice, strengthen unity, and deepen democratic engagement in the area.
