The National Rescue Movement (NRM) Zamfara state chapter has declared a 7-day mourning session to commiserate with Bawar Daji community, Anka emirate and the state in general over recent killing of innocent people by yet to be identified gunmen in the state.
This was pronounced in a press conference by the state Secretary of the NRM, Bar. Bello Galadi in Gusau the state capital Monday, saying the party found it necessary to show unreserved concern on the bitter experience the people of the state have put through by the negligence of the state government.
He said, the NRM, being a political party that respect the value of humanity, has suspended all its activities comprising political jingles, playing any audio or songs of whatever nature relating to the party within the period.
“We want to declare as well that, we have suspended the ongoing registration exercise for our members. We will during the mourning period embark on prayers and other activities that would show sympathy of our departed brothers”, Barrister Galadi has stated.
He, however, condemned the state government over what he described as the nonchalant attitude of security agencies in the state, adding that, NRM was worried about the incessant killings in which the government becoming less concern about the situation in the state.
“In fact, we are not happy by the way and manner the government is handling the situation. The killing is becoming too much in a short span of time, similar to what has happened at Bawar Daji had also happened at Birane village in Zurmi local government area recently where over 40 people were reported to have been mercilessly killed by the armed bandits.”
