Group Demands Deputy Speaker Position For Igede Nation

A group known as Igede Youth Council, IYC has passionately demanded for the Deputy Speaker position to be given to the Igede ethnic group of Benue State.
The group made the appeal in a press statement signed by its President and Secretary General Comrade Moses Onu and Comrade Ajah Mark Ahi, a copy which was made available to Peoples Daily yesterday.
They noted that the Igede nation has contributed immensely to the political development of the State and so, should be reciprocated with deputy speaker position in the spirit of if fairness, equity and justice.
“The deputy Governor is Idoma, the outgoing Senator David Mark and incoming Abba Moro are all Idoma. Most of the positions at the executives and legislatures are currently occupied by Idoma. So, we are pleading with other stakeholders and our Idoma brothers to cede the deputy speaker position to us as the third ethnic tribe in the State to have a sense of belonging”, the group appealed
